Rovers suffer second successive defeat.

Rovers slipped to their second successive defeat as Bedfont Green deservedly claimed the points at a soggy Winterfield Road.

The visitors took an 8th minute lead as Chris Henry did well to collect a ball forward on the right, turn defender, Rob Cousins and lay the ball off to Aaron McCleish who fired home from just inside the penalty area.

Rovers pressed for an equaliser but a combination of poor finishing and good goalkeeping from Gary Ross, saw the visitors through to a narrow half time lead and in fact they could have doubled their advantage as on 25 minutes  Henry blazed his shot over the bar and Gavin Hart also failed to hit the target 10 minutes later.

Rovers began the second half better but once again failed to really threaten until on 67 minutes Matt Cooper’s pass saw Robbie Claridge race into the box and go down under a challenge from Lee Morley who was lucky to see only a yellow card from the referee. Claridge made no mistake with the penalty.

Rovers hopes of going on to victory were short lived as on 72 minutes a ball down the right saw Henry, looking very suspiciously offside, cut inside and fire past Rover’s keeper, Kyle Phillips to give his side all three points.
