Vital league win for impressive Rovers

http://www.berkeleycoachandtravel.co.uk/Rovers turned in another fine performance to claim the points against second placed VT FC who suffered their second league defeat.
They should have taken a 3rd minute as Kane Ingram crossed from the right and Rob Claridge drilled his shot straight at keeper, Scott O’Rourke. Ingram forced a save from O’Rourke again as the home side made a promising start.
It was no surprise when they took the lead on 18 minutes. Charlie Rich’s corner from the left was met at the near post by Alex Ball who headed home.
The visitors responded and Warren Hunt set up Bryan Mason but his shot just cleared the bar. Hunt went close himself as home keeper, Kyle Phillips was forced to make a good save. Phillips also did well to tip over a long range effort from Michael Carter before Rovers earned themselves some breathing space with a second goal 5 minutes from the break.
Ingram’s cross from the right was only partially cleared and the ball dropped to Neikell Plummer, 15 yards, who fired home.
VT FC threatened to get back in the game as Hunt went clear and after Phillips got in a block his chip came back off the bar. Mason forced Phillips to tip a fierce shot over the bar but it was Rovers who effectively killed off the game with a third on 68 minutes.
Their corner from the left was only partially cleared and Dan Cleverley’s ball back into the box was headed on by Alex Ball and touched home by Plummer.
