Convincing win for Man Evans' men in their opening pre season game. Mark Evans side began their pre season with a convincing performance against Meadow Rangers at a very wet Winterfield Road.Last season's top scorer, Gareth Wright, took just 5 minutes to open the scoring when his pace took him past his marker and the advancing keeper before slotting home. The lead was doubled 4 minutes later as Dan Flower continued his fine scoring form with a 25 yard effort that gave the Ranger's keeper no chance. It was Flower who added a third on 18 minutes as he latched onto a great through ball from Justin Tugwell. Right full back Daryl Ridewood completed the first half scoring as he added Rover's fourth on 32 minutes with a 35 yard effort that swerved and dipped beyond the overstretched Ranger's keeper. The second half was more even although it was the home side who scored first as Wright broke on the left, drew the defence and keeper before squaring to allow Kirk Latham a simple finish at the far post. Rangers got on the score sheet just after the hour mark as substitute, James Barnes fired home from just inside the area and with 7 minutes remaining and with the home defence in complete disarray, Ted Bullock fired home a second despite the referee having blown seconds earlier for a penalty due to a hand ball. The reserves are home again on Saturday as they face Frome Town Reserves. |
