Strenth in depth the key to Mangotsfield's win. Rovers matched their opponents in a frenetic first half of excellent football but the inevitable changes at half time saw the hosts turn in a comfortable victory. The home side went ahead from the penalty spot after just 8 minutes following a push in the area but the lead lasted only 5 minutes before Sam Morgan was on the end of a right wing cross following a neat passing move. The home side went back in front on 20 minutes as Rovers failed to deal with a short corner on the right and the cross to the far post was volleyed home with some style. Ben Lacey then struck twice for the vistors as Rovers took the lead for the only time in the match. The Mangotsfield keeper pulled off 2 fine saves as Rovers threatened to run away with the game but parity was restored with the final kick of the half as a cross from the right to the far post was touched home. Rovers made several changes at half time and the disruption meant that in the second period the home side had more possession and they used it well to score 2 further goals on 63 and 70 minutes. The second and arguably the best of the match was scored by the impressive Kile Tooze who went on a jinking run down the left before firing home from the narrowest of angles. It was a game full of good football and although Mangotsfield were good value for the win there were plenty of positives for Rovers to take into their next game on Wednesday when they travel to Chippenham Town. |
