Rovers began well and almost took a 6^th minute lead when Matt Cooper’s shot was smothered by keeper, Lloyd Irish, and then 5 minutes later the striker saw near post header from a right wing corner go just wide of the far post.

The home side went ahead on 20 minutes as Kane Ingram won the ball in midfield and his through ball was latched onto by Copper who slipped the ball past the Taunton keeper and into the back of the net.

Ben Lacey, who constantly posed a threat to the Town, sent in a great cross from the right which produced a great defensive header. The visitors almost equalised on 31 minutes as Luke Cole’s cross from the right picked out Danny Lane at the back post but sent his header just wide. Then Charlie Rich’s cross for Rovers came back of the bar as the home side went in at half time with a slender lead.

Taunton pressed after the resumption but failed to create any real chances although Shaun Anthony’s volley from the edge of the box on 53 minutes went just wide of the far post and Chris Lane, on a substitute cut out a dangerous cross, clearing over his own bar. Kyle Phillips in the Rovers’ goal was forced to mark his only real save from a long distance shot from Shaun Anthony.

The game was settled on 61 minutes with a great move. Cooper won the first header into the penalty area and then Alex Ball headed on to Chris Lane, whose cross from the left was turned into his own net by the unfortunate, Neil Bailey.

Robbie Claridge almost made it three for the home side with a spectacular 35 yard effort before the game petered out as Rovers were content to hold onto the points and Town were unable to get back into contention
