Season underway with a good work out at Cadbury Heath.
It took Rovers just 55 seconds to record their first goal of the season as a neat move down the right saw Ben Lacey set up Stuart Tovey for the cross which skipper Dan Cleverley collected and slipped the ball past the home keeper. Rovers continued to press and on 7 minutes a corner from the left was cleared only as far as Rob Claridge whose subsequent cross from the right was tucked away by Ollie Price to double the lead. Claridge was again the provider two minutes later as his pass sent Lacey clear and he calmly slotted the ball home past the advancing keeper. The home side should have reduced the arrears on 24 minutes when new signing, Charlie Rich, upended a Cadbury Heath player in the box but keeper, Courtney Redwood, guessed correctly on the spot kick and the ball rebounded from his body to safety. The game became more even and as is usual in these matches wholesale changes in the second half disrupted the momentum and there was no further addition the score. Both managers will be delighted to have had got some much needed match practice without injury in an enjoyable game played in good spirit. Team: Redwood, Tovey, Rich, Ball, Price, Milsom, Jeffries, Barwood, Claridge, Cleverley (C), Lacey Subs: Wright, Collier, French, Nolan |
