New assistant manager announced.
Manager, Andy Jones, is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Milsom as his assistant (and player) manager for next season following Steve Tovey's decision to resign at the end of last season. Paul brings a wealth of experience to Rovers having been appointed caretaker manager at local rivals, Mangotsfield United in March 2008 along with our very own, Jon French, following the departure of manager, Frank Gregan, assistant Darren Perrin and coach Mike Kilgour. Against the odds in a sprited end of season performance they managed to avoid relegation from the Premier Division. Paul was subsequently given the manager's role along with his new assistant, Spencer Thomas. However budget cuts meant the 2009-10 season was a struggle and eventually they both stood down to be replaced by Phil Bater who was unable to prevent them being relegated this time. Having once thought his playing days might be at and end through injury, Paul made an impressive comeback in the heart of defence for Almondsbury Town where he made 19 appearances scoring 5 times. At the age of 34 there will hopefully be more to come in a Rovers' shirt! Paul previous clubs as a player were Bristol City, Bath City, Tiverton Town, Chippenham and of course Mangotsfield United. On behalf of everyone at Rovers a warm welcome to Paul and best wishes for the new campaign. |
