Youths go top

Clinical win for Rovers youth team sees them overtake Winscombe to go top of the Somerset Floodlit League.

Whilst not the most stunning performance Rovers were in control for the full 90 minutes limiting Larkhall to one effort on goal.

Goals from Sam Morgan, returning after a period of 5 weeks out injured, Ben Lacey now on 30 for the season and Nathan Loader saw Rovers go in at half time 3 nil up.

The second half was actually a better footballing display but only produced one goal, a first of the season for Josh Harrington again returning after injury. This was a solid team effort and gave an opportunity for some returning players to get some minutes on the pitch.

It was good to see Dan Flower running out for 20 minutes as well as Sam Morgan afte lengthy lay offs. Both will be key in the run in and hopefully they will stay fit.

However during the game we heard that Tom Evans had broken his arm very badly whilst playing in  last game.. He has spent several days in hospital and had a lengthy operation on it on Friday. The club wish Tom all the very best in his recovery. " This is a big blow for the team. Tom has been very impressive for us this season not only with his work rate in the central midfield but also for his vocalness and encourgement. Hopefully this will give the lads an extra incentive to win the next two games as Tom has been an influential player.

Team, Nolan, Smale, Loader, Lydford, Mills, Allen, Banfield, Harrington (Mounty), Morgan (Rideout), Lacey (Flower), Farmer.

Sub not used- Neil

Star Man.. Banfield

Wednesday Aprill 29 Paulton entertain Welton in the league with the added spice of it being the Bert West Cup Final. Welton have a very good young side and Rovers will need to be at their best. This is a must win game if Dave Neil's side have any chance of winning the league.

Our most important of the season so far. At the moment we havetwo absentees, James Hailstonis suspended and Tom Evans out long term.

Squad--Allen, Banfield, Flower, Farmer, Harrington, Lidford, Lacey, Loader, Marren, Mills, Morgan, Mott, Mounty, May, Neil, Nolan,Parnell, Rideout, Rothwell, Smale.
