Win hots up table top challenge

Report by Dave Neil

Rovers went onel up within four minutes. A well worked goal which was created by Rob Lidford producing a 40 yard pass for Ben Lacey to control with perfection and slot the ball into the net.

Radstock responded and worked hard, Luke Ingram was a thorn in Paulton's side for long periods and they were unlucky not to score before they did. Paulton also had chances of their own and it was Paulton who capitilised. Again some great passing which led to Rob Banfield feeding Lacey who cooly slotted home for his second.

Again Radstock responded. A corner from them led to a disputed penalty after some pushing and shoving in the box. Ingram slotted home to make it 2-1 at half time

Paulton upped their game in the second period and responded well to the half time team talk quickly restored the two goal advantage. Rovers with the ball on the deck again worked it well with Sam Farmer finding Ben Lacey who calmly nabbed his hat trick.

The game was interupted for a while after Ingram went down after he and a Rovers player challenged fairly for the ball. Ingram was taken to hospital and it transpires that he has ruptured a medial ligament. We at Rovers wish him a speedy recovery.

The fourth Paulton goal came soon after the interuption to play. Drew Mills with a 40 yrd cross field pass found Lacey in space and he rounded off a great night by getting his fourth. He now has 29 goals to date this season.

However, Rovers had to work hard for this victory and whilst the performance wasn't the best it was more important to get the 3 points. Some great defending by Steve Marren and Rob Lidford ensured this was the case.

Paulton manager Dave Neil sum his feelings up "as long as everyone stays fit and we have a full squad to choose from then we are still in the hunt for promotion. To win it would be great but there's some big teams in front of us yet. The lads have to maintian a high level of performance. I'm hoping that the number of games that they have to play in the next few weeks doesnt effect them to much"

The next game is again against Radstock this time at home..
