good effort - 2009/11/07 15:38 Just like to say that you were unlucky today. you had a good first 15 mins, but once we scored, our class shone through. we never really played at our best (like when we played at leeds a few weeks ago) but got the result us canaries wished for! good luck for rest of the season (i will keep up to date with your results).

Re:good effort - 2009/11/07 15:59 I guess fitnees really told especially in the last 20 minutes where Norwich scored 4. I really enjoyed the game and atmosphere. Great to see the ground full. There were ten times as many fans in today as there was when I visited last year for the Larkhall FA Cup game.

Re:good effort - 2009/11/08 09:33 Congratulations to Norwich on a totally professional performance which was nothing more than I anticipated. It was respect to Paulton that Norwich played a full strength side and never let up or showboated at all. Unfortunately, Chris Lane was slightly injured and we needed both wide players fit if we had any chance of a shock win. Well done Norwich and your fans I think you've gained a few more fans in a sleepy Somerset village.

Re:good effort - 2009/11/08 12:11 Just to add the thoughts of the other ' canaryboy ' on here.

We had a smashing day out yesterday. As I suspected us having full time professionals showed in the end but Paulton Rovers did all the hard work in the previous rounds just to get here. Everyone was very friendly in the village and you've got a great ClubHouse.

Well done to everyone involved in putting all the effort in to make sure the game could be played at Winterfield Rd in front of the TV cameras ( it's a pity ITV have to be so patronising to all the minnows though )

I hope at the end of it all you've made enough money to financially look after things there for years to come.

PS. Nice gesture you've made in offering free admission and a cuppa to everyone at your next home game. It's a bit too far for me to come I'm afraid ....

Best wishes for the future.

Re:good effort - 2009/11/08 20:16 I watched the game in the clubhouse of Barrow AFC, having travelled six & half hours from the south coast to watch my team, Eastleigh FC. Sorry that you were beaten so comprehensively, 5-0 would have be fairer. However, well done Norwich on such a professional display. Congratulations, Paulton on achieving your 15mins of fame. Hopefully with the money you have made so far, you can continue the progress you have made in recent years. The ground and set up you have looks excellent. Well done on YOUR day and the best of luck for the future.

Re:good effort - 2009/11/08 21:39 Just to add my 2 cents worth.

Very, very, very well done to all of the Paulton players and coaching staff for getting as far as you did and to those that made it possible to have the game played at home. Have to say that Norwich did a totally professional job on us and the extra fitness and movement, especially towards the end of the game, made the final score look much worse than it could have been.

Be proud of what you have achieved and hey, there's always next year. Thanks for making the last couple of weeks the most exiting out of the 20 odd years I've been watching and keep it going through the rest of the season.

To the Norwich players and fans, congratulations and the best of luck in the next round. Hope you all got home safe and well and enjoy your cup run as much as I have ours.

ps. took me ages to figure out how to sign in, could there be a sign in link on the forums page?
